3609. Captain Alex McDonald to Campbell. Halifax. Dispute with McLean as to forming the nine Companies of the Battalion into five, as directed by Major Commandant Small. Requests leave to do so. The agents are in advance for a large sum for the 84th Regiment and they will honour no more drafts from the commanding officers or paymasters. Propriety of an interview with Lieutenant-Colonel Small. Asks leave to send Captain John McDonald for this purpose.
