3448. Washington to Clinton. Headquarters, New Windsor. By the enclosed Act of Congress of the 3 April, Washington is directed to demand the immediate return of Lieutenant General Burgoyne and all other British or German officers who are prisoners of war now absent from America on their paroles. Requests that Clinton will take the necessary steps to procure the 'speedish' compliance possible with this requisition.
