The Service Complaints Ombudsman was established by the Armed Forces (Service Complaints and Financial Assistance) Act 2015. The Ombudsman is the successor to the Service Complaints Commissioner for the Armed Forces, a role established by the Armed Forces Act 2006 as part of significant reforms to the Service complaints process. The role of the Service Complaints Ombudsman is to provide independent and impartial scrutiny of the handling of Service complaints made by members of the UK Armed Forces.
