Description

Folio 384: Commissioner Richard Beach, Portsmouth. Thanks the Board for the imprest, but it will be insufficient. The condition of the workmen is deplorable, due to the fact they have five quarters pay due to them, they cannot live on air and he fears it will break out into a great discontent. Report of the problems of taking on the building of a new 5th Rate. Is sending a report, undertaken by the Master Shipwright, on the Mary Rose, since Sir Richard Haddock returned to London. Mr. Trevor, Clerk of the Ropeyard, has received the goods from Mr. Peachey. Is sending a copy contract with Mr. Oxford for yawls. They will weigh the St. David to tomorrow.
