Folio 356: Commissioner Richard Beach, Portsmouth. He has received the offer of a supply of resin, from Southampton, but has no money to pay for it. They may be able to get some oil from a vessel, which came from Newfoundland to Poole. Asks for a supply of various stores. He hopes the imprest will be sent soon. If ships are in need of oakum, he has given junk to the Carpenters and told them to get it picked at sea. They are trying to supply the Carpenters and Boatswains with the stores they require. The lack of a Master Attendant and Master Shipwright hinders the running of the yard and he has sent the Boatswain of the Royal Charles, who acts as Master Attendant, with the Clerk of the Survey to Spithead to take a survey of all the ships. The Master Ropemaker is very sick. A supply of hemp has arrived, from Mr. Taylor, and they are checking it in case of decay. Is sending a letter from Mr. Draddy and the account of the masts on the Duke.
