Folio 352: Commissioner Richard Beach, Portsmouth. Asks for a supply of oil, tallow, resin and oakum. Asks for Edward Dummer, or someone else, to take an account of the wants of each ship as they cannot spare anyone from the yard, due to many Officers being turned out or sick. He thinks Mr. Furzer expects William Stigant, Master Shipwright, at Sheerness, but he thinks he should remain, at least until Mr. Furzer comes down. They are also in need of a Master Attendant's and Master Shipwright's Assistant, as they will not admit Thomas Podd. He thinks they should secure Mr. Draddy's canvas. Gives an account of the problems with Mr. Crawley's goods, served to George Perrin's man, Alexander Low. The transport is loaded with Mr. Taylor's goods and is awaiting convoy. Asks for money to pay the workmen and to pay for goods. He has ordered someone to take over the duty of the Porter and for Mr. Holland to take over the duty of the Clerk of the Ropeyard, but asks for permanent replacements to be sent. He will buy Captain Billop's resin, if it is suitable. Report on the progress of the Warspite, Plymouth, Oxford, St. David, Monk, Jersey, Dreadnought and Advice, following orders from Lord Torrington and Sir Cloudesley Shovell.
