Description

Folio 337: Commissioner Richard Beach, Portsmouth. He has informed the Prize Officers that they can receive the tar and they will be able to store it with Mr. Taylor's goods, which arrived on the Transporter. Report on the progress on the Monk, Mary Rose, Coronation and Dreadnought. They are in need of oakum and money, to pay workmen and bills. If the Board does not pay Mr. Hawkin's bill for the Earl of Gainsborough's steward, it must return here to lie with other unpaid bills, due to lack of money. Is sending a certificate from the Governor concerning the soldiers transported to Ireland. He has given orders for the Storekeeper to take charge of the furniture from the Merlyn yacht. Will send an account from the Officers, regarding Mr. Brouncker's brass cocks. The Prize Officers have demanded the French prize, the Alexander, with the salt and wine she carried, to be delivered to them, but she was sent in by Lord Torrington. The Speedwell, Unity and Roebuck are to be sold, but a survey taken of them He has shown the Unity would make a very good hoy and asks the Board to consider this. The Lyon and Roebuck sailed from Spithead, with their convoy for the Downs. Mr. Draddy is expecting an answer regarding his canvas. The Montague, Plymouth, Warspite, Oxford and St. David came into Spithead, from the Fleet at Torbay, with all the sick men of the Fleet. The Defiance passed by for Chatham.
