Folio 175: Captain Charles Fanshaw, the Phoenix, the Rebellion Road, South Carolina. He is sending the account for repairing, refitting and careening the ship for which he has drawn bills payable to William Williamson and William Randall. He has drawn different sums of money to avoid lowering the exchange and because of the scarcity of paper currency here since the suppression of the banks and the 'rapaciousness' of the people to raise the prices and lower the exchange on the Government.
