Folio 222: Captain Thomas Legg, the Discovery brig, Dover Pier. Has had bad weather, the bows proved leaky and a cable broke on the small bower anchor, leaving just one short anchor to rely on. Has put into Dover Pier, where the Carpenters should, have orders to caulk the bows. The oakum had been used up, so Mr. Ganner will finish the work. Then they will be ready to sail. Has been to Captain Jacobs to enquire about the anchor and cable that had to be left behind in Dover Roads, but it has not been found. Has a fortnight of provisions on board and the weather is expected to be bad.
