2779. Clinton to Wright. Some regulations had been communicated to him whilst he was at Savannah about events which had taken place in Georgia respecting the appropriating of rebel property towards relieving and rewarding Friends of the Government. As some such measures may become necessary in this province, ask for a copy to be forwarded to his assistanct secretary Russel who remains at Charlestown, for the informations of Cornwallis who will have the command there. Post Script, thinks steps should be taken to prevent Friends of the Government from coming hither from Georgia.
