1361. Brigadier-General Augustine Prevost to General Sir Henry Clinton. A letter from St Augustine containing duplicates of previous letters as well some affairs in the province regarding rebels and their proximity. Also reports on the loss of the 'Otter', a sloop sent to try and intercept a privateer, but was caught out in a storm off Cape Canaveral and jettisoned her guns to keep off the rocks, but was lost along with her stores although all the crew were saved. It's loss would be detrimental to the defence of the province as the Southern Colonies can be provisioned by either French, Spanish or Dutch so it was essential that a naval force should be stationed along the coast to try and prevent that happening. Requests for arms and ammunition including field guns were also stated as well as sufficient supplies for as current suppliers provide some low quality as well as deficiencies of provisions at present as the enemy probably weren't too far away, so good will as well as assistance by the Indians was essential therefore goods for them should also be included. Had not received any orders or instructions on his conduct in the province, except in the discipline of two new battalions. Had worked on the defensive but seen opportunities to advance on Georgia with a view of keeping it.
