Description

1326. Lieutenant-Governor Richard Hughes to General Sir Henry Clinton. A letter from Halifax stating that the King had appointed him to this position for Nova Scotia and would be happy to concur measures for the welfare of the province. Also said that the Council had requested the deferrment of the return of Marine's as the French fleet were close, and this had been communicated to Major-General Massey as more intelligence on their whereabouts was required before the Marine's departure. It was hoped that this action would meet with approval.
