Recommendation for the mitigation of sentence for selected prisoners in the gaol for the County of Kent at Maidstone.
Names and details of prisoners:
William Walsh convicted at the Kent Lent Assizes 1822 of highway robbery. Initial sentence: [death] commuted to two years in the House of Correction.
William Soudder convicted at the Kent Sessions October 1819 of a felony. Initial sentence: seven years transportation commuted to five years in the House of Correction.
Catherine Eaton and Susanna Fibbons convicted at the Kent Lent Assizes 1822 of highway robbery. Initial sentence: death commuted to two years in the House of Correction.
Gaoler's name: B Harene, Chairman of Visiting Magistrates for Kent.
Grounds for clemency (Recommendation Details): Good behaviour and industry.
Annotated (Recommendation Details): Remission prepared February 1824.
Other papers: Report of Visiting Magistrates. Recommendation of Court of Quarter Sessions. Forwarding letter from W Scudamore, Clerk of the Peace.
