Description

Prisoner name: Stephen Mills.

Prisoner occupation: Farmer at Elston Farm, Orcheston St George, Wiltshire.

Court and date of trial: Winchester Sessions [Hampshire, 1824].

Crime: Assault on Sir J Pullen, a magistrate for the county of Hampshire.

Initial sentence: Imprisonment for two months and a fine of £30.

Petitioner(s): Thomas Mills, prisoner's brother. Earl of Pembroke, Wilton House, Wiltshire.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Good family connections; prisoner in bad health; very severe sentence.
