Description

Prisoner name: Isaac Foot.

Court and date of trial: Old Bailey February Sessions 1820.

Crime: Robbery on the Thames: stealing 3lbs of pepper out of a lug boat.

Initial sentence: Seven years' transportation.

Annotated (Outcome): To be pardoned. Free pardon February 1824.

Petitioner(s): Prisoner. Jemima Foot, prisoner's wife.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Family dependants; served three years and nine months; foiled an attempted escape from Newgate in 1820.

Other papers: Letter from John Wontner, Keeper of Newgate, confirming prisoner had been instrumental in preventing an escape of prisoners.
