Description

Recommendation for the mitigation of sentence for selected prisoners in the General Penitentiary.

Names and details of prisoners:

John White convicted at Southwark [Surrey] on 6 April 1820 of stealing two great coats. Time expires: 18 April 1824.

William Stretton convicted at Lancaster [Lancashire] on 17 April 1820 of stealing a pocket book. Time expires: 22 April 1824.

Walter Keating convicted at Old Bailey on 20 June 1820 of stealing paper. Time expires: 5 July 1824.

Elizabeth Brisley convicted at Canterbury [Kent] on 22 October 1819 of stealing from her mistress. Time expires: 24 March 1824.

Sophia Davis convicted at Old Bailey on 16 July 1820 of stealing a shawl. Time expires: 6 August 1824.

Martha Davis convicted at Bridgewater [Somerset] on 10 September 1820 of petit larceny. Time expires: 7 March 1824.

David Jones convicted at Old Bailey on 9 June 1822 of felony. Time expires: 26 January 1826.

Thomas Harvey convicted at Old Bailey on 5 December 1821 of felony. Time expires: 29 December 1829.

Gaoler's name: William Courtney, Chairman.

Grounds for clemency (Recommendation Details): Jones and Harvey recommended on medical grounds. Report of their conditions signed by HM Latham and HM Ruget. Other prisoners recommended on account of their good behaviour.

Annotated (Recommendation Details): Pardon prepared 27 January 1824.
