Envelope, Marked 'LBSCR [London, Brighton and South Coast Railway] Loco[motive] Name Queries', containing four cuttings:
1) [From 'Southern Railway Magazine'] April 1945, letter from G R A Dick on the naming of London, Brighton and South Coast Railway locomotives and querying origin of some names.
2) [From 'Southern Railway Magazine'] June 1945, letter from W Reeves, reply to 1, explaining origin of name 'Dornden' and naming engine driver who proposed it.
3) [From 'Southern Railway Magazine'] [1945], letter from P Slarke on London, Brighton and South Coast Railway locomotive names and proposing a Southern Railway memorial engine for company servants killed in Second World War.
4) From Locomotive Magazine February 1948, paragraph reprinted from the 'Brighton and Hove Herald', 31 January 1948, about the first locomotive built at Brighton drawn through the streets to the Keymer and Newhaven branch railway, 29 January 1848.
