Extract and two cuttings from 'The Locomotive' 15 August 1940 pages 199 to 203, 'Famous Locomotive Engineers XVI, John Chester Craven', Locomotive Superintendent, London, Brighton and South Coast Railway 1847 to 1870, brief biography and history of his work, with five photographic illustrations, one of a side elevation drawing of a third class excursion carriage, 1864, and including a cutting [probably from 'The Locomotive' but of unknown date] photographic illustration of a Tudela and Bilbao Railway, Spain, 4-4-0 tank locomotive of a type introduced by Craven.
