Folio 412: Richard Grindall to Sir Thomas.
Grindall previously asked for the Reverend William Walter, then Chaplain of HMS Ramillies, to be appointed to his own ship, HMS Formidable. Their Lordships agreed, subject to the consent of the then captain of HMS Ramillies, John William Taylor Dixon. Since then Grindall has applied to Captain Osborn, and he has with the consent of Sir Charles Poole, allowed Walter to return to England in HMS Rupert, to take his promotion. He is now en route for Plymouth and Grindall asks that his warrant may be sent, so that he may join HMS Formidable as early as possible. Adds that he is always pleased to hear Sir Thomas is in health, and hopes that Earl St Vincent may be so too, despite having heard to the contrary, since he is so necessary to the Navy. Ends by sending his best respects to Captain John Markham and his old friend Mr Nepean.
