The Sheep and Livestock Division was established in 1973 following accession to the EC. The Division has been responsible for UK policy on sheep, goats and wool, the application of support schemes, especially for hill farmers and livestock extensification. In 1998 accountability switched to the Milk, Pigs, Eggs and Poultry Division.
