This series was opened by the Animal Health Division and covers the Committee of Enquiry on Rabies set up by MAFF in 1970 to review the policy and precautions against rabies in UK and to make recommendations. The Committee was chaired by Ronald Waterhouse QC and a Final Report was published in June 1971 with recommendations falling into four main areas:
i. The control of imports of animals other than dogs and cats.
ii. The control of imports of domestic dogs and cats.
iii. The supervision and operation of arrangements for reception and transport of imported animals.
iv. The action to be taken for outbreaks of rabies outside quarantine.
