Description

Records from the Third Geodetic Levelling of Great Britain by the Ordnance Survey. These files contain the information relating to the checking and application of the data collected in the field. They include locations of spot heights, bench marks, and precise levels as well as the rounded levels shown on published mapping. The series also includes field guide cards, and field diaries.

New infill levelling is also included in this series. This was undertaken for a more detailed analysis of a particular area in response to land use change or for particular projects. Examples are Jodrell Bank Radio-telescope and the cross Channel data required by the construction of the Channel Tunnel.
