The Public Service Transformation Network was announced by the Chancellor in the 2013 Budget: 'The Government will establish a new multi-agency network to drive the transformation of local public services. The network will spread innovation from the Whole-Place Community Budget pilots and What Works Centres to support other places at key stages to provide advice and support on co-designing local public service transformation'.
In March 2013, the Local Government Minister, Brandon Lewis, announced a new multi-agency network to help transform public services at a local level. It was later announced that the Public Service Transformation Network would be comprised of people with experience and expertise from across government departments (including HM Treasury, Cabinet Office, Department for Communities and Local Government, Department of Health, Ministry of Justice, Home Office, Department for Work and Pensions), councils and local agencies, as well as employees from the NHS and other public bodies.
The first nine areas to be championed by the Public Services Transformation Network were announced on 3 July 2013 by Eric Pickles, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
