Description

This bound set of the ephemeral printed papers of the Museum was kept in the Museum Secretary's office, and bears his annotations. It is complete from 1882 to about 1935, and very incomplete for 1935 to 1955.

The different types of application form or information sheet issued by the Museum were designated 'printed forms' and each type was given a number. By 1912 119 different forms were in use, and the number rose to 190 by 1930. Most were revised from time to time, and most went out of use during the 1950s. The volumes include papers relating to the appointment of staff; the receipt, loan and exchange of specimens and publications; the production and sale of books, leaflets, postcards and lantern slides; papers relating to lectures, guided tours, demonstrations and special events; regulations governing photography; telephone lists and lists of staff; the Museum almanac, and notices giving the dates of Trustees meetings. DF 1011/6 contains a complete set of papers relating to the Swiney Lectures in geology, which were given in the Museum between 1886 and 1933.
