Folios 21-22. Examination of James Cravellion, Roman Catholic born near Brussels in Brabant [Netherlands]. Servant to James Bishop for 11 years. Went with his master to Hove in Sussex; did not know he intended to sail to France. Mr Ibbetson travelled with them to Hove; they met him at place where Lord Viscount Montagu has a house; Dated at Westminster [Middlesex]. Filed with:
1. Folios 23-24. Examination of James Bisshopp (or Bishop), of St George's parish, Westminster [Middlesex]. Left London six weeks ago to visit Mr Medley. Intended to travel to France to find employment with Duke d'Arenberg. Sailed from near Arundel [Sussex], but bad weather forced boat to land at Eastbourne [Sussex]. Met Mr Ibbetson near Findon [Sussex] and travelled with him to Hove, where they were seized. Taken before Newcastle. Dated at Whitehall [Middlesex].
2. Folios 25-26. Examination of Abraham Ibbetson, farmer from Tortington, Sussex. Had not seen James Bishop for some years before meeting him at Public House in Findon. Did not speak to Captain John Morey of the Willing Mind, sloop, about Bishop's passage to France. Ibbetson travelling to Pevensey [Sussex], to settle some affairs concerning the militia. Dated at Westminster.
