Folio 17. John Sharpe to Andrew Stone. Concerning gaol of Lincoln. Mr Monson believed it would be secure enough to hold 'Considerable Number' of prisoners committed for treason. However Mr Welby, undersheriff, says gaol is almost full with debtors and criminals, and soldiers would be needed to guard walls. Northampton gaol is reported to be 'very Secure'. Seal.
