Folio 1. Thomas Hall to [Newcastle]. Concerning Alexander Love, 'Scotchman' apprehended as a spy in December 1745, when Duke of Bedford's regiment was in Birmingham [Warwickshire]. Examination revealed he was with rebels [Jacobites] at Carlisle [Cumberland]. Examinations sent to Duke of Cumberland by Lieutenant Cope. Love committed to Warwick gaol until next assizes. Enclosing document taken from Love by constables [not enclosed]. Dated at Birmingham.
