Description

Folio 128. Copy. Sir Everard Fawkener to French prisoners of war at Hull [Yorkshire]. Duke of Cumberland received the prisoners' letter from Brigadier Stapleton and General Hawley; disapproves of their mistreatment, and will order Lieutenant General Jones to provide them with subsistence and officers quarters. Prisoners will also have liberty to walk about the castle in daytime. Dated at Perth [Perthshire]. Endorsed in modern hand: 'In [letter] 1746 March 26'
