Folio 117. Information of Isaac Rawlinson, innkeeper of the Sun, Lancaster [Lancashire]. Information against Dr Burton. Saw Burton with rebels [Jacobites] in Lancaster, around 24 November 1745. He was armed, and not restrained or kept with other prisoners. Burton appeared 'Intimate' with several rebel chiefs, including Lord Elcho and their Quartermaster General, and met with 'the Prince' [Charles Edward Stuart]. Burton wanted help getting intelligence from Postmaster of Preston, but Rawlinson suspected he was a rebel spy. Taken before R G Sawrey, Justice of the Peace. Dated at Lancaster.
