Description

Folios 106-107. Examination of William Adams, Irish Protestant from Cork [County Cork]. Father was sergeant and corporal in Barrell's regiment (later Bragg's regiment). Adams joined as a drummer, and went to Flanders in 1743. Taken prisoner by French between Bruges [Belgium] and Ghent [Belgium]; Lieutenant MacDermot enlisted him in Roth's regiment. Near camp of Lord John Drummond's regiment at Siege of Tournai, but never saw Sir Hector Maclean. Deserted at Alost [Aalst, Belgium] with seven others. Surrendered to Lieutenant Cooke of Wolfe's regiment at Middleburg [Netherlands]. With description of Barnaby O'Brien, Lieutenant in Clare's regiment now imprisoned in Tower [of London]. Taken before Thomas Waite. Dated at the Savoy [Westminster, Middlesex]. Filed with:

1. Folios 108-109. Examination of Patrick Hudner, Irish Roman Catholic from Clarney [?Clahane], County Kerry. Imprisoned by Richard Murphy, Lieutenant in Buccleigh's [Bulkeley's] regiment, and taken to Nantes [France] by ship. Drafted into Buccleigh's regiment, but deserted at Alost [Aalst] and surrendered to Duke of Cumberland. Heard Sir Hector Maclean was Lieutenant Colonel of Drummond's regiment. Captain Andrew Lee was a recruiter for Buccleigh's regiment; his parents were Irish but he was born in France. Taken before Waite. Dated at the Savoy.
