Folios 94-95. Examination of Charles Jones, Irish Roman Catholic and 'Periwig Maker'. Enlisted into Berwick's regiment while drunk in Paris [France]; Lord Lewis Milford was captain of his Company. Deserted at Alost [Aalst, Belgium] and surrendered to Duke of Cumberland's forces at Villevorde [Vilvoorde, Belgium]. Heard that Sir Hector Maclean was Lieutenant Colonel of Lord John Drummond's regiment. Irish officers, including Lieutenant Seagrave, often went to Ireland for recruits. Taken before Thomas Waite. Dated at the Savoy [Westminster, Middlesex]. Filed with:
1. Folios 96-97. Examination of William Twitchit, Protestant from Braintree, Essex. Enlisted in General Clayton's regiment in Gibraltar, and in Barrell's regiment in Flanders. Convinced to desert by 'Flemish Fellows' while drunk in Ghent [Belgium], and.
joined Roth's regiment after Battle of Fontenoy. Description of Corporal Frazer from Scotland. Details of Sir Hector Maclean, Lieutenant James MacCartney and Captain John O'Connor recruiting men. Deserted French at Alost [Aalst] and surrendered to Onslow's regiment at Campveer [?Veere, Netherlands]. Taken before Waite. Dated at the Savoy.
2. Folios 98-99. Examination of William Bane, Protestant from Reay, Caithness. Recruited in Aberdeen [Aberdeenshire] by Robert Cameron; gives description of Cameron. Told he was enlisting in Dutch Service, but was transported to Dunkirk and forced into Drummond's regiment. Lord Lewis was Lieutenant Colonel of Drummond's regiment. Deserted at Alost [Aalst] and surrendered to Cumberland's forces. Taken before Waite. Dated at the Savoy.
3. Folios 100-101. Examination of William FitzPatrick, Roman Catholic from Dunmore [County Kilkenny]. Seized and forced aboard a ship at Dungarvan, County Waterford. Carried to La Rochelle [France] by Francis Neigle and forced into Buccleigh's [Bulkeley's] regiment; later drafted into Lally's regiment. Deserted at Alost [Aalst] and surrendered to Cumberland's forces. Taken before Waite. Dated at the Savoy.
