Folios 56 and 58. W Bell,?Nathaniel Hills and Charles Allix, Commissioners for Sick and Wounded, to Newcastle. Asking if prisoners committed on suspicion of treason should be subsisted. Each English, 'Scotch' and Irish soldier, captured on French ships bound for Scotland, costs four pence a day to keep. Dated at Office for Sick and Wounded Seamen. Enclosure:
1. Folio 57. Copy. George Porter, Mayor of Coventry, to Commissioners for Sick and Wounded Seamen. Two rebel [Jacobite] prisoners will be subsisted as directed. Seven other prisoners, committed by Duke [of Cumberland], were not found in arms and are not 'charged with any particular Facts'; Wrote to Sir Everard Fawkener concerning them, but had no response. Dated 3 February 1746.
