Folios 45-46. Information of Thomas Pattinson, alderman and Deputy Mayor of Carlisle. Rebels [Jacobites] forced Mayor to proclaim 'the person they Called King' [James Francis Edward Stuart] at Carlisle [Cumberland]; Pattinson has paper ordering the proclamation, signed by Duke of Perth. Mayor's house was plundered on orders of John Hamilton, rebel Governor of Carlisle. Colonel Durand, the Mayor, Pattinson and other gentlemen sent intelligence to Marshal Wade at Newcastle [Northumberland] during rebel siege. Sworn before Richard Gilpin, recorder. Dated at Carlisle [Cumberland]. Filed with:
1. Folio 47. Mary Tallentire, spinster of Carlisle and servant to Thomas Pattinson. Account of rebels searching Pattinson's house for the mayor. Sworn before Richard Gilpin. Dated at Carlisle.
