Folios 26-27. J Lamb to [Newcastle]. Concerning George Hemmins, 'notorious' smuggler suspected of trading with Boulogne [France] during war. When questioned, Hemmins admitted to making port at Boulogne. He heard 14,000 troops had embarked from Dunkirk [France] and Ostend [Belgium], bound for Scotland. Pretender's second son [Henry Benedict Stuart] was also at Boulogne. Lamb sent for town clerk to take Hemmins' deposition, but he escaped. Dated at Rye [Sussex].
