Charles Stokes to Duke of Newcastle, presenting a copy of a sermon [not filed here], written [during the Jacobite uprising] at the request of the mayor and aldermen of Nottingham [Nottinghamshire] and preached to local militiamen. Advises that he's now a burgess, and uses his vote in the Whig interest. Requests a reply, and advises that Newcastle may publish the sermon if he chooses to. Dated at Nottingham.
