Investors in People provides a best practice people management standard, offering accreditation to organisations that adhere to the Investors in People framework. It was launched in 1991 as a non-departmental public body and received funding from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). From April 2010 the work of the organisation was transferred to UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) which is now responsible for the strategic ownership of Investors in People.
