This series contains files relating to the organisation and management of the Exhibition Section and its programme of work, kept by the Exhibitions Officer. The series includes papers relating to the organisation of the Section and its constituent parts, including modelmaking, taxidermy and the various laboratories; copies of the progress reports submitted to the Director and keepers, and papers of the Exhibitions Committee; a small collection of general correspondence, and two collections of printed leaflets and brochures assembled by the Archivist and placed in the series for convenience.

The Director's files relating to the administration of the Section are in DF 1004 and DF 933. The Section's annual reports are in DF 935.
The Exhibition Section was located within the Directorate from 1937, when John Doncaster was appointed as the first Exhibitions Officer, until 1975, when it was incorporated into the new Department of Public Services.
