Folio(s) 467-468. Letter from Ralph Fletcher, Bolton le Moors [Lancashire], acknowledging a letter requiring him to direct the detection of Taylor and others. Fletcher also reports that Scorr, Hallworth and others of the United [Englishmen] are alarmed at the death sentence passed at the assizes on E Bradshaw of Manchester for a burglary at the house of the Reverend Mr Hall. Bradshaw is a committee man in the United and the membership are concerned that he may reveal their plans to save his life. They are therefore attempting to gain a reprieve for which Scorr is now in London. Fletcher understands that [Thomas Butterworth Bayley] has written to government seeking a pardon for Bradshaw, evidently unaware of his character. He asks whether a royal pardon can be made conditional on full disclosure by Bradshaw of all he knows of the seditions.
