Folio(s) 465-466. Letter from [Richard Ford] at Weymouth [Dorset] reporting that in his previous letter he had forgotten to say that the prisoner [Urban Metcalf] and a sailor in the same gaol had managed to escape on Friday night [4 September] whereupon Metcalf had made for the King's Lodge.
The sanity of the man is still in question over the knife throwing and his attempt to leap into the Royal box. Ford has continued to make enquiries discreetly as the King knows nothing of the matter. To prevent any further mischief he has ordered the Bow Street officer to take Metcalf to the House of Correction pending the Home Secretary's decision.
