Description

Folio(s) 430-432. Letter from Aaron Graham, [Inspector of Convicts], at Hatton Garden [Holborn, Middlesex,] enclosing an estimate of the expence of his proposed establishment for the convict hulks at Portsmouth and Langstone, [Hampshire].

Attached is an estimate comparing the cost per annum of maintaining 1000 convicts under the present contract with that under the new arrangements. A saving of £501 10s 10d would be available towards the hire of new ships, supplemented by any deductions from the contractor's account of allowances in respect of convicts on the sick book.
