Subject Matter: Letter directed by Viscount Palmerston enclosing two letters and cover sheet, annotated with reply. One from Thomas Wood, managing partner of the colliery, about cholera cases in the pit village of Trimdon, [County Durham]. He reports four deaths and three further cases. He has distributed medicines to everyone, workmen or not and asks for a reissue of notices like those used the previous year in Newcastle, [Northumberland]. In the second enclosure from Richard Furlong, of Bilston [Staffordshire] he claims that workers in his bone mill are protected from cholera.
