British Museum (Natural History): Department of Zoology: Reports to Trustees

This series consists of British Museum (Natural History) Department of Zoology Reports to Trustees. DF 205/1-8 contains a wide range of material, including letters to and from the Principal Librarian and Secretary of the British Museum; copies of reports for the Trustees; notification of Trustees' decisions; letters from the Keeper to junior staff on official matters; annual reports by individual staff and for the department; letters; reports and catalogues of collections offered as gifts or for sale; lists of duplicate specimens; parliamentary papers and miscellaneous printed ephemera. Subsequent pieces consist of reports and requests prepared for the Trustees, together with background papers and correspondence, and notifications of their decisions, often with annotations concerning their implementation.

For the period 1909-1921 the reports, requests and background papers are to be found in files entitled 'Reports to Trustees', and the notifications in the 'Meetings for the year' files. The files of numbered documents contain minutes and other papers generated as a result of the Trustees' decisions.
