From 2004 British Council
Following the Six Day War of 1967, the British Council was concerned to establish a presence in Jerusalem, but was effectively restricted to a library in the Western (Israeli) part of the city. A Council office was eventually opened in East Jerusalem in 1967 to promote cultural and educational links between the United Kingdom and the Palestinian Authority. Regional offices were subsequently opened in Gaza, Hebron, Nablus and Ramallah.
