Folio 1. Philip Carteret Webb to Duke of Newcastle on the crown’s success in the first trials in Carlisle [Cumberland] of seventeen [Jacobite] prisoners. Comments on Mr [William] Noel opening speech in the first case, against John Henderson, a 'writer or attorney'; case of Thomas Coppock ‘Titular Bishop of Carlisle’; 'many hundred people' arrived as defence witnesses, and the arrest of two as rebels; a reprinted pamphlet by Francis Atterbury, distributed by George McFarlan [McFarlain]. Dated at Carlisle.
