From: John Smith, Clerk to the Guardians of Whitechapel Union, 40 Lemon Street, London.
Subject Matter: Letter acknowledging receipt of a letter of the 21 September regarding the alleged nuisance at Castle Alley, Whitechapel. Smith states that they have been informed of this nuisance and have applied to the local authorities to compel the owners to put it in a proper state of repair.
