Folio 80-110. Detailed examination of Hugh Fraser, Secretary to [Jacobite] Lord Lovat. Early life; clerk to Mr Catanch, advocate of Aberdeen [Aberdeenshire]; appointment by Lovat as steward, then secretary; contacts with Pretender's son [Charles Edward Stuart], Duke of Perth, [Cameron of] Lochiel, Cluny Macpherson, Lord Traquire; Lovat's debts in Edinburgh paid by his factor, Frazier; [John] Murray of Broughton's travel costs; Lord John Drummond visit to Castle Dounie [Beaufort Castle, Inverness-shire]; 'Lochiel's country, and the McDonalds of Glengarry, during [1744] invasion plan; Robert Fraser succeeding the examinant as secretary; William Fraser of Belnain's offer to host the Master of Lovat in Holland during rebellion; Lovat's orders for the Frasers 'to rise' under the Master; Coll McDonell [McDonald] of Barisdale; Roy Stewart; Cameron of Callard; Gortuleg in Lochaber [Inverness-shire]; Lovat's [Jacobite] ducal patent; Master's disinclination to join rebels; Alexander Fraser of Inverness reporting French troops in Montrose [Angus]; Lovat's capture by Lord Loudon, and escape; Earl of Cromartie; Charles Fraser of Inveralachy; Letter handed over by Mrs Davis of Inverness [Inverness-shire]; wounded at Culloden; Frasers confronting McDonalds in Urquhart.
