The William Marsh Charity was named after its benefactor, an eighteenth century Customs Officer who bequeathed money to set up a charity for the benefit of orphans and widows of former Customs officers. In the mid-1990s Customs and Excise decided to merge the William Marsh Charity with the Customs and Excise, Orphans, Widows and War Memorial Fund.
The records were administered by the Family Fund.
