The records in each group have been presented in chronological order, with those recording the William Marsh Charity presented first.
From 2022 HM Revenue and Customs
The William Marsh Charity was named after its benefactor, an eighteenth century Customs Officer who bequeathed money to set up a charity for the benefit of orphans and widows of former Customs officers. In the mid-1990s Customs and Excise decided to merge the William Marsh Charity with the Customs and Excise, Orphans, Widows and War Memorial Fund.
The records were administered by the Family Fund.
