Captain Cayran to [?Duke of Newcastle], reporting his efforts to 'ease the heavy charges and burden these people [Jacobite prisoners] cost the nation'; that he'd taken aboard 80 [Jacobite prisoners] from the Liberty and Property, Captain Joseph Causton Meek; his inquiry into James and Mary, Captain Sayers, and the Mermaid, Captain Yeoman; 232 reports prisoner held in 'the fort' [?Tilbury Fort, Essex]; that clement weather limiting infection; and preparations to discharge the transports. Dated at Gravesend [Kent].
