Folio 44. Copy letter from Colin Mackenzie, Minister of Fodderty [Ross-shire] to Sir John Gordon. Mackenzie is concerned by newspaper reports of hardship being inflicted upon the [reprieved Jacobite] Earl of Cromertie as a result of evidence arising at St Margaret's Hill [Southwark, Surrey] in the trial of Rory Mackenzie. Describes condition for the parish of Lochbroom [Ross and Cromarty] involving [Reverend] James Robertson, of Atholl, Perthshire, and Roderick Mackenzie. Also mentions 'Bellone, one of the Parnell brothers'; Hector Mackenzie, son of episcopal minister 'Parson Roy', heading 'Coul's tenants'; and Roderick Mackenzie 'driving off the poor negroes of this place'. Dated at Fodderty [Ross-shire].
