Folio 136. Petition of [Jacobite] George Hartley, aged 19, convicted of high treason. Hartley pleads his innocence, producing witnesses who swore that he appeared to be an unwilling participant in the rebel army. Evidence for the prosecution: John Mackinson claimed that Hartley had been seen with the rebels [Jacobites] at Carlisle, although not with arms, and two further witnesses claimed he had been seen at Brindle and Preston with a gun and a white cockade.
